These St. Louis natives are influenced by the “Outlaw Country” style of music and have broken down the bad boy cowboy image to a science. The Dock Ellis Band’s upbeat versions of classic favorites had all of the Strutting Duck bobbing their heads to the fast paced drumming and occasionally yelling out a “yeehaw” in joy. Their original songs can be heard at myspace.com/thedockellisband and keep an eye out for their return to Auburn. 1/2008 - Thecornernews.com

If you’re into country music, give The Dock Ellis Band a try. Its pre-1985 focus allows plenty of room for tapping into the music’s vast repertoires. On his website, Jesse Irwin, the band’s singer, songwriter and guitarist, cites Hank Williams and the Louvin Brothers as influences and wryly says, “Don’t ask us to play anything by Toby Keith.”

The Dock Ellis band, a crack country unit for St. Louis, had the four or five of us still hanging around, rolling with laughter. Seriously, it was the funniest show I've seen ever. 1/16/08 - 225BatonRouge.com

Performing the group’s patented mix of “pre-1985 country standards,” the sextet quickly grabs the large Tap Room audience by the lapels, demanding its time and focus. A crowd that’s already got a certain collective booziness melts in the hands of The Dock Ellis Band, which performs songs neatly suited to the occasion. 11/01/2006 - St Louis Sauce Magazine

A contemporary honky-tonk band with a steel guitar and some hair-raising harmonies, the boys in the dock Ellis Band ar as genteel asnd charming as the custom-made, embellished, country-western style shirts gracing their backs. But don't let appearances fool you. Their lyrics ar at once disarming, acerbic, and downright fun. Songs like "I Cheated on You (With Your Mom)," "Crystal Meth" "39-ish Girl," and "Somebody Put Something in My Drink (Please),"have the audacity to be both shockingly playful and surprisingly dead-on about the human condition. 1-2008 - StL Sound

Bio
The Dock Ellis Band formed approximately 2 years ago with 5 great musicians. They originated in the same organic fashion most bands do, through association, friendships, and word of mouth about each others talents. Some of the band first played together at Frederick's Music Lounge in Freds Band Scramble in St Louis, MO. In mid 2007 an addition was made to the band, keys, amazing!
