"The Dolldrums live @ TBMC"

"How do you get a fat girl into bed? A piece of cake. The dual vocalists of The Dolldrums not only had classy corny jokes but a genuine onstage tightness and some great songwriting. Two singers who alternated excellent vocal duties to perform a short sharp set of catchy indie rock. Their track, Sarcastic Swipes, was clearly the highlight of their set. It's great to see a band actually getting into playing their music rather than the oh-so-common standing still and looking like a rehearsal that is so often seen. No so here, and The Dolldrums would be a band I'd look forward to seeing again..."

"Review by Trevor Halpin, Music Review"

The Dolldrums 6 out of 6
“As most bands upcoming on the scene in Ireland at the moment The Dolldrums give an edge to indie rock music. This is one band that has created cunning and catchy tunes and has them down to a tee. With this 3 track stunner EP, tunes like "Magic Car" ooze pissed up popped punk with spilling in your face lyrics and a melody to get your body moving. This tune has some great potential across the media board. Excellent stuff from The Dolldrums, this EP really impressed me and goes in the collection big time.”

"The Backroom Sessions 22nd February 2008 Supporting The Flaws"

"By the time they veered through their strongest song 'Dead Dog', they had confirmed that they could sell out similar venues on their own". - The Meath Post

The new ep has no name. It does, however, have three rockin' tracks.

Bio

The Dolldrums, hailing from Navan, Co. Meath, are a four-piece rock outfit with a keen focus on melody and lyrics. The group was born when the band's front men and main songwriting force returned from a hedonistic summer of excess on a Grecian Isle. The two in question are Paul Clarke and Cormac 'Beef' O' Keeffe. The pair returned weary yet their thirst for music remained unquenchable. They recruited gifted drummer Baz Fitzgerald, (nephew of legendary guitarist Jimi Smith), with whom Beef had played in several bands prior to his departure to Greece. More recently bassist Paddy Smyth has joined The Dolldrums, and despite a broken bone here and a ruptured appendix there, the Dolldrums have hit the ground running. Evolution they say was the creation of no man but a band with a plan.

In an otherwise inauspicious weekend in September '07 The Dolldrums set off to Cherrybomb Studios in Dundalk to record three new songs courtesy of studio time won in a Battle of the Bands in bandit country. Two of these tracks, Magic Car and Ballad of a Wheeler Dealer feature alongside Sarcastic Swipes on the new ep, which you'll find at gigs.

With a large local following, one that is increasingly eager to traipse to venues afar, The Dolldrums are keen to spread their wings and in recent months the Dolldrums have begun to take flight on the live circuit. Gigs with class acts such as The Flaws and Ilya K have not gone unnoticed and in March, the Dolldrums played to a boisterously appreciative audience as part of the current IMRO Showcase tour.

The summer months see the Dolldrums embark on a tour of sorts taking in venues from Waterford to Enniskillen, with one of the highlights being a support to Cathy Davey at Le Cheile in Oldcastle.
