Bio

Donna Woodall has established herself as a skilled vocalist & songwriter on the Wisconsin music scene. In 1998, she began her current musical project, the Donna Woodall Group (DWG). Exposure to everything from "Billy Holliday to Billy Joel" has contributed to the group’s musical style. The band blends the adult contemporary styles of artists such as Cassandra Wilson, Bonnie Raitt, Norah Jones, Sting, and Tracy Chapman with some elements of traditional jazz and blues. The result? A fresh, new twist on familiar songs. The most notable part of the band’s repertoire, however, is the original songs. Donna’s songwriting talents are showcased on the DWG's self-financed and produced debut album, "The Subject Love." Seasoned musicians, playful song lyrics and strong hooks, masterful delivery and a captivating stage performance set DWG apart from the rest.

The DWG has performed at some of Milwaukee's most prestigious events and festivals. A partial list includes River Rhythms, Rainbow Summer, the Cathedral Park Jazz series (aka Jazz in the Park), Summerfest, Lakefront Festival of the Arts, Tosafest, Summer Sizzle (Third Ward Jazz Festival), the annual Friends of Art Bradley Sculpture Garden Party, and Milwaukee's Zoo a la Carte. Within a brief period of time, the DWG has gathered a dedicated following.

As former singer for Streetlife, the highly acclaimed house band of the National Basketball Association's Milwaukee Bucks, Donna has been seen by thousands each week at the Bradley Center and on cable television. With Streetlife, Donna has opened for Al Jarreau, Tower of Power, The Neville Brothers, and a host of other artists. Milwaukee Urban League's Black & White Ball, RiverSplash, and the Wisconsin State Fair are just a few of the venues at which she has performed. Her signature alto voice has been featured on Milwaukee's smooth jazz radio station, 93.3 WJZI. Donna can also be heard in local Piggly Wiggly, St. Pauli Girl, Children's Hospital, PM Bedroom Gallery, and Wisconsin State Lottery radio and television ads.

In addition to being a performing artist, Donna is an 8th grade English teacher. This experience allows her to hone her exceptional skills as a poet and lyricist.

Donna currently lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with her husband, bassist Ethan Bender, and their daughter.
