Bio

The Downtown Psychedelics - High Energy Rock'n'Roll

The most important thing to say about this American/German
trio is that they play rock and roll without being stuck in any
particular style. In their world there is no reason to adhere
to the rules whilst performing an art form that has always
tried to destroy them. They play a drum kit, a bass guitar,
and an electric guitar whilst they sing about such themes as
love, life, and civilian war casualties. They are always at
their best on the stage as they are predominantly a really
great live act. There has never been a show played by these
three gentlemen without an encore being asked for or
played.

Kreuzer-Leipzig (03/2006)

And now a bit about these gentlemen. Patrick Burkholder is from Pennsylvania. He is the
creative element of The Downtown Psychedelics. He writes most of the songs and plays the guitar.
He can also play the drums and a small amount of piano. His biggest musical influences are MC5,
Buddy Holly, T. Rex, '77 punk, and '60s psychedelic rock. Though he has played in many bands
stateside, he now lives in Leipzig, Germany. Steven Schroeter is From Germany. He is the
drummer and the man who holds the whole thing together and gives the band the high energy
sound. He has been playing the drums in bands since 1997 and comes from a veritable family of
drummers. John Blumstein is from Texas. He has been playing the bass guitar since 1984 in
different bands from Texas. The most noteworthy being a band called '50 Million' (think of The La's
with a lot of beer). He studied music before his move to Leipzig, Germany in 2001.
Since the band's formation in 2002, the ups and downs of a band have seen members come and go
and the years have resulted in the debut self-produced album 'Semaphore Shake'. This albums' primary theme is the day to day problems we all face when trying to communicate with others.
That being said, don't think that the album won't knock you senseless when it is played at your
next party. Honesty, purity, energy - Let The Downtown Psychedelics give you one more brick in
your road to happiness.
