The Drawls

The Drawls

BandFolkBluegrass

A unique fusion of alt country and rootsy bluegrass to sultry swing, steeped with seamless harmonies and impressive musicianship.

Biography

Paula McGuigan and Auto Jansz of Barley Wik combine forces with indie musician Cheryl Fischer, emotive vocalist Andrea Routley and seasoned drummer, Juli Steemson, to form The Drawls. What began as a fun winter project in 2008, quickly progressed into a unique fusion of alt country and rootsy bluegrass to sultry swing, steeped with seamless harmonies and impressive musicianship. Individually they are all accomplished songwriters and singers, but something truly infectious happens when these ladies meld their talents together. Effortless four part harmonies combined with tasteful instrumentation brings forth a freshness that surely sets The Drawls apart from other groups in similiar genres. Having recently recorded an EP of five original songs at One Ton Studios in Victoria, and all being veterans of the road, they intend to traverse the land again this summer to promote their music. With an assortment of well-chosen covers and catchy original songs, The Drawls are making lasting impressions with their audiences. Their varied musical terrain and undeniable talent has them off and running to a promising future.
