The Dream Station
Vibrant, ethereal, dancy, indie rock lyrically driven with catchy melodies smoothly juxtaposed by brilliantly syncopated guitars, punchy bass lines, and powerful drums.
Biography
The vibrant and ethereal rock sounds of the “The Dream Station” come out of Brooklyn, NYC, where the band is based. Lead Singer J.J. Gluckman's lyrics explore his life's experiences through heartfelt words and raw vocals. The bands catchy melodies are smoothly juxtaposed with Rik Cava's punchy bass lines and Frank Juan's powerful drums. Lead Guitarist Juan Cardenas's unique choice of notes and the syncopated guitar lines enrich and compliment their vivacious breed of rock music.
A unique aspect to the band's fusion has to do with the members very diverse backgrounds. Juan and Frank hail from different parts of Venezuela. Rik moved to NYC from Texas, and J.J. from Phoenix, Arizona. They each had their own unique journeys through music until they came together and finally landed as “The Dream Station” in the summer of 2009.
The band’s influences are widespread amongst all genres such as: rock n’ roll and indie rock, pop and even electronica. A consensus amongst the band: “our individual inspiration comes from very different places but somehow meets at a point where we all connect and feel very comfortable."
The dancy, indie rock of The Dream Station has been brought to crowds all over NYC at premiere venues such as "Crash Mansion," "The Bitter End," "The Studio at Webster Hall," "Sullivan Hall," "Spike Hill," "Arlene's Grocery," and others, along with out-of-state gigs in Pennsylvania and abroad including at "Juniata College" in Huntingdon, PA, and "Stage on Herr, in the "Midtown Arts Center" in Harrisburg, PA, and "Crocodile Rock" in Allentown, PA. 2011 will bring The Dream Station across East Coast borders as well as continuing along the NYC circuit. "This is Not the Desert" is now available for download on iTunes.
Lyrics
Chemicals
Written By: J.J. Gluckman
These chemicals are taking time
And they’re working their way into my spine
It digs and digs our graves
And I’m a merchant of death
I’m taking lives, this is so hazardous
We still take and take and take
What is this we’re made for?
Call the troops, call the calvary, this is war
These chemicals are taking love
From the life that was sent from above
It pulls and pulls and pulls
And I’m a merchant of death
I’m taking lives, this is so hazardous
We still take and take and take
What is this we’re made for?
Call the troops, call the calvary, this is war
What is this we’re made for?
Terminal
Written By: J.J. Gluckman
Make a line, make a line
To cross this time
Take your time, take your time
You never fell for me
So man all your terminals
Flight 117 is boarding
And you’re, you’re not ready to leave
Close your eyes, close your eyes
And count to five
Memorize, memorize
The stars up in the sky
I’ve finally found the ocean
So man all your terminals
Flight 117 is boarding
And you’re, you’re not ready to leave
This is Not the Desert
Written By: J.J. Gluckman
This Is Not The Desert
Say that you won’t
That you can’t
That you’ll never let me go
Go down, I’ll never, go down
You permeate
Through my skin
But you’re seeping through to my veins
Go down, I’ll never, go down
And there’s a scientist who lives in my head
And he tick tock tinkers with all the words I said
And there’s a pilot who flies through my nervous system
Connecting fact and fiction
You’re not getting older
You’re just getting weaker
You’re my sense of weakness
My heart is filled with songs and hymns of forever
Try to let me go, but I won’t let you down
I’ll never go down, go down
My heart is filled with songs and hymns of loving feelings
Try to let me go, but I won’t let you down
I’ll never go down, go down
You’re not getting older
You’re just getting weaker
You’re my sense of weakness
