The Drip

In the Summer of 2011, four men with different backgrounds in music agreed on mixing their musical influences and turning them, Blending the guitar work of early Grunge era alternative to the new atmosphere and sound of the indie market. Its hard to really describe The Drip. Whose name comes from an inside joke of 4 friends more involved in the musical substance than they are with the vanity of everything outside of the resonating production. Easily one could pick out single layers that remind them of other favored artist. Vocalist and guitarist Oscar Ramirez recalls: "On one hand you've got people telling you that you are a mix of both Bush and Mars Volta, and at other times you have got people telling you that you sound like a melodic metal band like the Deftones. People will always relate to something they enjoy if they hear a sound or a riff closely relating. For us its just a compound of that and being a tribute to music we grew up on and, having fun in the process".
The Drip quickly started to make their rounds and started their initial trek of shows and got well received including an invitation to play with national touring artists. "That show was a blur. It was cool hangin out with a band that has had years touring and had success while having a few drinks with them in their tour bus." says lead guitarist and vocalist Josh Hamilton. During this time The Drip had very few songs to work with. After which they decided that taking a 5 month hiatus was needed to fill their set and refining their earlier work. Throughout this time they recruited Scott Durant to work out their drumming duties. Making him their permanent Drummer after Original drummer Mike Runion went on to work on another musical project more toward his forte. "I was excited, challenged. This band has the perfect chemistry for what type of music I wanted to be involved in. I wouldn't have it any other way." expressed Scott after recalling his experience thus far.
The Drip moved out of the shadows in the fall of 2012 and went full force on what became their best trek so far. Playing venues that were challenging to acquire without the aid of a manager or a booking agency. From a small crowd consisting of a few patrons, to an over energized audience from one county to another. The band has at this point worked from one goal to the next taking a bigger step each time. Now, at the helm of a large setlist and a reworked sound the band has a alot of work ahead. With a laser, precison goal each time one is met, we can only assume that ample ambitions are on their to do list. Bassist Kyle Seiler with a pensive mind directs his attention to the future of the project he calls home and asserts "We are gearing toward recording either a full length album or an EP. Right now we have so much material to choose from, it will be the hardest thing to pick out which songs will fit and which ones we will have to leave out respectively. This year will be an interesting time since we began." The Drip has a long road ahead, with a very promising future.
