Beginning in 2005, recording of "Built from Ruin" was marred with setbacks. From different members of The Drum Addikts falling victim to different addictions, failed negotiations and broken promises to most importantly, the self doubt and perfectionism of Fatz Belvedere, saw the concept album shelved. Now, five yeas later, after numerous legal, health and addiction issues, Fatz Belvedere and his Drum Addikt Family have emerged healthier and more focused to finally complete what some critics said were the "beginnings of a revolution and a vivid look into tormented souls complete with a sonically surreal musical and lyrical soundscape"
Fatz stated "Musically, its a culmination of like, all the frustration and sadness that i been carrying with me the last two years in isolation. Lyrically, its a trip through the struggles. Love, Loss, suicide, hopelesness and despair but the hope and ambition to overcome all of it is the main message. Thats why we kept the name 'Built from Ruin' because my whole crew just waited for me to get better after i destroyed everything.."
Fatz retreated to sheer isolation two years ago when a major label deal for the lead artist, Byata, went completely sour leading to a major depression as well as a dependency on prescription drugs. Following his downfall, which included a small stint in prison, Fatz pulled himself together and along with his drum addikt family supporting him, he pulled himself together and returned to the industry more mature and focused.

Completely void of all politics of the music industry, a Drum Addikt personifies an addiktion to innovation. Written and orchestrated from the pages of their own tormented diary, the Drum Addikts have slowly evolved into a testament of change.
Collectively, The Drum Addikts, comprised of James Dean & Fatz Belvedere, are the epitome of the word "alternative." On one hand, the vivid lyrical context of James Dean, mirrors the angst and raw emotion of early nineties wu tang and on the other hand, Fatz Belvedere's musical and vocal soundscapes brings nineties alternative rock & grunge music back to life. An interesting pairing especially in today's musical scene that is completely devoid of all substance and emotion. Fatz, performing all the instruments for the Drum Addikt recording sessions, Blends classic, arena-like, guitar riffs and soaring leads with pure, unfiltered hip hop elements, pulling from sources of inspiration that may have seemed forgotten in todays music industry. Alongside rhythm guitarist, Elbow, Drummer and percussionist, PR, Drum Addikt DJ, Tim Martell, and a String Quartet, yes, a string quartet, both live and in the studio, the world has yet to hear a sound as distinctive and authentic as The Drum Addikts……
In the beginning….
Born in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn, James Dean found a passion for music early on as an escape from the horrors within his young life. Drug experimentation and constant run ins with the law propelled James deeper into his notebook and forced him to delve even deeper into his soul to write his story for the world. After numerous rejections and disappointments, james quickly adapted a frontman's persona and focused all his energy into building his own brand as "Brooklyn Brawler", his now defunct pseudonym. Taking on an interns position at the legendary Quad Studio's in Manhattan, James was able to assemble his own demo's relying heavily on the inspiration of early nineties groups such as Wu Tang, Bootcamp Click, Black Moon and more. With his love of hardcore music and heavy metal bands, James decided to cross many musical boundaries in his musical approach, quickly catching the ears of many fans across the country and building a solid fanbase, in particular, one who was rebuilding his life after a devastating fall from grace…
Enter Fatz Belvedere….
Born and raised in Queens, Ny, Fatz, a multi instrumentalist and vocalist found underground fame with the release of Death Row records "Tupac:Remixed & Revisited." Fatz struggled for years in the music business remixing artists from Alicia Keys to Stevie Wonder, yet never achieving true success. With a reputation for blending many genres in his work, Fatz worked closely with multi platinum producer, Timbaland and his stable of artists and writers. With his status growing in the industry, Fatz slowly began destroying himself and succumbing to demons he could not fight alone. A serious bout with depression caused by being pigeonholed in the industry and restricted to one sound, forced Fatz to retreat and disappear for over two years. Finally, back on his feet and healthy, Fatz heard a demo by an unknown rapper from brooklyn called "The Moon" and immediately contacted the artist in hopes of forming a group with him…
2010, Enter The Drum Addikts…
Together, James Dean and Fatz Belvedere are the personification of change. A breathe of fresh air in a stale industry and a rejuvenation of creativity and talent. There major label debut entitled "Built From Ruin", set for an early December release, is a collaborative story of two men begging for a change. "Built From Ruin" with its distorted guitars, soaring leads and intricate orchestration is set amongst the backdrop of unique samples and lyrics that define the realization of their self inflicted harm their actions have caused to themselves and a sincere collective apology to the ones that they hurt along the way
