BandRockAvant-garde

Concerts of thee are not of musical nature only, but include performative elements based on theatre and dance. Taking place with changing costumes on both stage and in the audience, plus various accessories brought from their props room those nights turn into themed shows.
Ecstatic outbursts are to be expected after at least 15 minutes play time only.

Biography

Somewhere between the archaic objective from the Old English, a cup of tea in Netherland and an Indian drama, has the band ‘thee’ their beginning.
Six years after the creation (2005) of the band through the poet Dadaesque, the musician Doc Waggy and the guitarist Von Schallhaller the former trio hits the ground running with three new members (Moses Thoughtsgrave/Bass, Thomas Schütz/Piano, Synthesizer and Jay Kovski/Drums) and a new imagination of music into an unknown future.

The sound of 'thee' comes from the composition of raw, psychedelique, but idiosyncratic elements. Together with the image afflicted lyric, existing of imagination and experience, arises a bonding that shows the uniqueness of 'thee'. That style the band themselves describe as lyric-obsessive Post-Punk and in doing so they don’t leave out any chance to drag their audience to their world to see them dance.

„It is like Iggy Pop is asking out The Doors to flush a bottle of gin.”

Vocals (Dadaesque):
The obsessive wordplayer and the charactistic voice of 'thee' roams the world as a poet to create fictions which hide nothing from his own experience in them. The characters and their stories he tells about in his lyrics are queer. They have deviant preferences and push reality far from themselves. His style of writing is characterized by trying to remove himself from conventional designs. But if something still rhymes within his lyrics, it happens just by coincidence.

Guitar (von schallhaller):
Driven by a vision and six strings, the journey of Schallhaller, by his own account, begins in Bolivia. And finally his story with thee starts in V No Town. He tries to play the memory of it to the gallery with the band as a fevered, shimmering world. Swayed by
Tom Waits and haunted by Jack Kerouac, the essence of the music of thee - in his judgement – is the raw constancy and the tender caducity.

Guitar (Daoc Waggy):
The chameleon in the band. Most of the time you find him playing his guitar on stage. But this is not his only musical talent: He plays his synthesizer as well as the contrabass. With keen sense for themes, not only in minor, he brings - in his own way - colour into the set. If he is not to be found on stage, he is probably somewhere else on the globe.

Bass (Moses Thoughtgrave):
He reflects emotions, stories of any kind,
even his environment in his style and ties
them up to his way of playing the bass. The appearance of Moses Thoughtsgrave needs to be understood as a complete artwork. Almost infinite energy on stage and an unimaginable world of
dreams are his secret source and greatest desire. What defines him on stage is nothing else than taking off his mask and getting out of control. He is a unique creature but can be a loose cannon.

Keys (Thomas Schuetz):
Virtuosic pianist and headstrong keyboarder of the band. If a dramatic peak or a playful interlude find its way into a song of 'thee', it sure has been the handiwork of Thomas Schütz. The conventional piano education left behind but far from technical perfection, as is well - know music is all about emotion, he makes his piano dance on stage. But this is only one facet of Thomas Schütz: as photographer and graphic artist he has caused quite a stir and designed many flyers and posters for the band.

Drums (Jay kovski):
Backstage he might appear as the calmness in person of the band, but not as the drummer on stage: He understands like no one else how to wait and see and watch when he performs. His intuitional talent allows the other band mates to move freely on stage and
to capture them again in the right moment. Some stick might break or the bass drum pedal may run down, but Jay Kovski will still be playing.

„we are thee, you are not“

The inimitable method of 'thee' to catch or connect temper with their sound, to tell stories of craving, dreams and weird creatures, captivates their audience and of course themselves. It is an addiction to find the right expression, a quenchless lust for making the world prick their ears, that can be only sated with their
undying love to music.
