From diapers to drums, Luke Rathe, born February 7, 1979, discovered his musical passion for percussion as a toddler!

With his mom's nurturing influence, Luke's passion for music found consistant praise and encouragement allowing fundamental skills to develop throughout elementary.

In 1992, Luke began formal drum lessons. The young prodigy advanced with "perfect measure", and in 1993 recorded his first demo at Grand Junction Studio in Waterloo, IA.

The bands' name was Scarlett Runner, a 3-piece award winning adolescent Blues Band that toured regionally for a "solid five years" sharing stages with Blues greats such as; B. B. King, ZZ Top, Dr. John, The Fabulous Thunderbirds and Buddy Guy, to name a few...

When asked, "What's the best advice you could give to aspiring drummers?", Luke replies with "I was in Chicago opening up for Buddy Guy at age 18. I walked into a large-scale music store, and when I walked to the the drum section, it was filled with patrons and everyone of them played better than me." It was the most humiliating experience as a drummer ever, very leveling and eye-opening. The experience still continues to provide room for growth."

Aside from his commitment to the Elijah Heat Band, Luke currently maintains his passion for music through weekly performances with two entirely different local acts; Soul Fusion and WildCard. Both have good following.

If he isn't behind a drumkit, Luke successfully distributes quality music gear as the sole proprietor of "Luke's Music Stop" in Waterloo, IA.

Elijah David Monroe(singer/songwriter/guitarist/harmonica) Nov. 22, 1976-me I began my self-tought journey in music when my mom gave me her fender acoustic 6-string in 1986. It came with two books of sheet music, The Beatles and moms all time favorite artist Neil Young. The journey continued until early 90's when my vocal music teacher(Sandy McDonald) referred me to Bob Dunn(University of Northern Iowa music professer) for 1 guitar lesson in pentatonic scale and relative theory. From that point forward(20 yrs ago) ive been using my musical passion to write and perform songs, mostly as an understanding humanitarian w/ a popular polital agenda.
