Bio

Melodic, wide-ranging vocals amidst sometimes clean and clear, sometimes swirling guitars and violin take the listener on journeys through lyrics of love, loss, doubt and contentment. The Elsewhere Band sound has a lot of space where musical lines pass through like comets and falling stars. The contemporary folk lyrics and melody lines blend with atmospheric rock arrangements or softer, more silvery new age sounds. When they rock, it's with a lot of roll; when they roll, you leave your bags on the beach and step into the boat.

"Bridge of Love", a nine-song CD to be released in November 2003: its original contemporary folk and folk-rock songs transport the listener through varying soundscapes. The listener moves from the earthbound rock of "Leap", all about getting back on the road and living to bring road stories back to friends who keep the homefires burning, and "Don't Leave", a cheerful rocker about the failings of someone who can't seem to get their act together and probably wants too much out of life, to the title track "Bridge of Love", a tranc-y song with beautiful vocals and hypnotic arrangement about love newly-found, love reborn and love ever-circulating.

Cynthia is the singer-songwriter rhythm guitarist. Roy adds crucial instrumental ingredients. For both recording and playing live, arrangement and production efforts are shared equally. The full palette of sounds found on the recordings is realized live when Dave Doyle adds the bass and melody strings of the Chapman Stick to the mix. Dave is also featured on the songs "Leap" and "Bitter Money" from the upcoming CD "Bridge of Love". Drums and percussion are often added onstage, as well, with John Stotler's creative touch. Since establishing their own studio, The Elsewhere Band has been newly charged with the ability to paint each song into a full expression of their vision. This has opened the door to working with other like-minded musicians who help to create a transporting performance.

Along with live performance, WPKN Radio in Bridgeport, CT airs their music frequently, particularly during Walter Wagoner's program. The members of The Elsewhere Band have performed under the names gOA and Fraunty Dunn. "Casting to All Sides", a song which will be re-recorded for a future CD, originally appeared on a 1995 FastFolk compilation under the name Fraunty Dunn.

Two more CDs are to be released: one in November 2003 (Bridge of Love) the other (Golden Thread)in June 2004.

On the "Little Elsie" CD the band delivers original folk, country-blues-bluegrass and a touch of swing with a fresh, light-hearted touch. It is a cluster of songs selected to brighten the day. Even the well-loved and wistful "Missing You" is gently sad. This CD is a collection of ten of Cynthia's earlier songs (mostly) and has a little touch of honky-tonk. Put it on, if you want to dance a little and get happy.

"Rise Little One" if you like to play in the snow with little kids.
"Life's a Bust" for those slow, draggy days that never end.
"Bobby" as a lively kick-off to a party.
"Close Up the Distance" to keep dancing.
"Walk Out on Me" for some harmonies in vocals and violin and a waltz time.
