"Press 1"

The Excuse combines attitude and presence with the sound of new wave indie rock. They show influences of national indie rock bands Saves the Day, Brand New, & Deathcab for Cutie. They are talented and fun to work with. They are young but very serious with great musicianship. - Voltaire Clothing

"Press 2"

The 5 piece indie-rock band hailing from the hills of Western Kentucky University. The Excuse is one of Kentucky's most promising new acts. - Troy Spinks of Club10 TV

"Press 3"

With a shared attitude and energy on stage, this is rock-n-roll you can't ignore. A sound with enough edge to keep everything rock hard. The Excuse kick out with fast and aggressive styles of new wave indie-rock. Their EP is solid and full of energy from start to finish. The Excuse is less than a year old but rock like expierenced veterans. - Blake Judd of J Squared Promotions

"Press 4"

I was attracted to the emotive and powerful burst of energy that is The Excuse. I hear alot of contemporary influences, which is good that they are right in the mix. They are cutting a path of sonic fury with their EP "This Present's Past" It is more than your unused mind can handle. - Atari of Asylum Magazine

"Press 5"

"The combined musical talent and the live show that gets the crowd singing is our excuse for loving The Excuse" - Cara McFall of Nashville Scene

Bio

Over the last year, THE EXCUSE have created a huge buzz in the indie rock scene the new old-fashioned way: by playing every show in any city they could, lending songs to bedroom label CD compilations, selling thousands of their self-released CDs at gigs, and by fervent fans spreading the word (and mp3 files) via instant messages, emails and message board posts.

“The internet has been huge for us. So many kids come up to us at shows and tell us they heard about us from a friend online or on a website. It’s really cool that we can go play in cities for the first time and already have kids showing up to the show and singing along."

THE EXCUSE formed a little over a year ago while guitarists Tom Wise & Gunn and vocalist John Austin Chapman were neighbors in college. After the defection of the band’s original drummer a year later, Dustin James, who was a friend of a friend began practicing with THE EXCUSE and was immediately asked to join the band. With the lineup solidified, the band began playing shows regionally; quickly making a name for themselves with their energetic live performance.

Over the course of touring to support their debut EP, THE EXCUSE has become even stronger and more unified in their craft and songwriting, the product of which will be seen in their highly anticipated upcoming release.
