Bio
Luke Mensink: 13
Luke has been playing drums since he was old enough to pick up dad’s drumsticks, and now takes lessons to refine his natural skills. He is musically fluent in everything from hip hop to metal. He spends more time than most behind his drums, and hits harder than men twice his age. Julian and Luke met at Guitar Center during a contest and a few weeks later, they were together in Julian’s practice space. Luke sat down at the drums and started laying down some very funky beats with some real fast double bass and Julian knew at that moment that he had found his musical soul brother.
Eric Brogmus: 18
Eric plays several instruments well. He writes and sings his own amazing songs with guitar, and has done bass, guitar, and drum duty for the worship bands at his churches. Eric has an amazing ear and quick reflexes that enable him to learn new songs literally the moment that he first hears them. Julian and Luke have always liked his unique bass playing style, and asked him to help them form a band. Lucky for them, he agreed.
Julian Cubillos: 14
Julian studied classical guitar for seven years and was blessed with two scholarships to a jazz improv class that opened his mind to some new concepts. He is first and foremost a guitarist, but he also has a way with words and had a poem published in a national journal at age nine. Inspired by his band-mates and consuming vast amounts of American blues, rock, straight ahead jazz and alternative music, he is constantly looking to develop new musical ideas.
