Bio
‘The eye fives’, featuring Savannah Jo Lack and Ben Tolliday, is an acoustic duo playing a variety of instruments (violin, ‘cello, banjolin, mandolin, guitar and percussion) drawing heavily on the folk tradition of story telling. Crafted in a similar vein to the musical vision of Zoe Keating and Andrew Bird, ‘The eye fives’ draw on their own influences – including classical, world and folk music - to create an organic palette of acoustic sound. As individuals, Savannah and Ben have played and/or arranged strings for many musicians – Nels Andrews, Danny Schmidt, Colin Brooks (Band of Heathens), Sam Baker, Lord Huron, Zenda Marie and Garrison Starr to name a few. 'The eye fives' formed in February 2011 and were immediately booked for a four month residency at Oakland Art Murmur, drawing large audiences and receiving rave reviews. Following this exposure, ‘The eye fives’ were chosen as a feature artist at the JamScape audio installation for Milan Design Week 2011. They are currently recording their debut EP, set for a February release.
