The Fabulous Pelicans

The Fabulous Pelicans

 San Diego, California, USA
BandRockCover Band

This remarkable 6-piece rock band has performed at the Olympic Games, the Superbowl, both Democratic and Republican National Conventions and was selected 'USO Entertainer of the Year' doing shows for our servicemen and women all over the world including 5 performances on aircraft carriers at sea!

The Fabulous Pelicans' playlist ranges from the 60's through the present. While this 6-piece band's wheelhouse is in the guitar-rock arena, the Fab Pelis aim is to that take their audience back through music's most memorable times. The band jumps nimbly from Lynard Skynard and ZZ Top to Steely Dan and the Doobie Brothers. Just when you think you've got them buttonholed, lead singer, Caroline Martin brings down the house with Janis Joplin's 'Piece of My Heart' and 'Bobby McGee'. With a name like "The Fabulous Pelicans" you'd expect them to be fun. By the end of the night, there are no barriers between the audience and the band...just a bunch of friends lovin' the music.

Did You Grow Up What You Wanted To Be

Written By: Bob Garrett

She ran down from the attic, spider webs in her hair
with a box of old photos she'd discovered up there
She said, "Look what I found!", smiling with joy.
"These pictures of you, Dad, when you were a boy

And she sat down beside me, "Did you catch all these fish?"
"And is this your best friend? Oh, Daddy I wish
that I knew you back then
I'll bet we'd be best friends.

Then her expression turned serious and she looked up at me
and said, "Daddy did you grow up what you wanted to be?"
And as I stared at the face of my father's son
I wondered if he grew up what he wanted to be.

Chorus: Daddy did you grow up what you wanted to be
Is the present a future that you once could see
and all the plans that you made from the limb of a tree
Oh, Daddy, did you grow up what you wanted to be

I wondered what happened to all of those dreams
as I looked at a boy who could have been anything
Would the boy in the photo like the man he'd become?
Or would he be disappointed at so little he'd done?
All the plans never finished and the dreams that had died
had I just forgotten or had I-I not tried?

I smiled at the child with her head on my shoulder
"You'll be anything you want, honey, when you get older
and when I was your age all the plans that I had
not a one was as great as being your Dad.

She smiled and hugged me and said she was glad
"'Cause I want to grow up to be just like my Dad.
