Feeling a bit camera shy

Doon and her band are a fascinating and compelling trio. Doon draws on her own experiences to provide the material for her songs. Once she glued feathers to her arms and tried to fly to the sun; the resultant wax melting debacle gave birth to the first song on the album, Icarus. Other songs are about childhood, bereavement, love and hangovers and being 'Just the Cleaner' in the local pub. The songs are easy to listen to but notoriously difficult to play, with chords that the band invent themselves and numerous skipped beats.
With her unique folk-blues style and strong social conscience, Doon belong on the early 1970's California Laurel Canyon folk scene. But Joni's doing opera and James has gone jazz, so thank goodness for Doon and her up-to-date take on classic and inspiring acoustic songwriting.
