"Music Monthly Magazine Baltimore (March 05)"

"The Fallen One is a Washington, D.C.-based band keeping alive the swirling, layered guitar sound popularized over a decade ago by bands like Smashing Pumpkins, Sonic Youth, The Pixies and the lesser-known but equally as talented Hum. This sound is the basis for the band's recently-released debut album, Shadows.

Lead by the vocal prowess and guitar work of Rachael and the instrumental attack of Chris and Odell, The Fallen One plows through seven sonic gems on Shadows. The first track, "Empty Wishes and Torn Dreams," is a brief instrumental interlude but sets the dynamic tone for the rest of the album.

The Guitar-driven "Saint" and the charging "They didn't Come Here for Us" are among the many highlights on Shadows and bring to mind recent indie acts like Ranier Maria. The Fallen One is a band with alot of talent and potential, heck they are so good they don't even need a bass player!"

"Pop Quiz"

“Bass players beware:

The band everyone is talking about, THE FALLEN ONE, has no bass player. The rich, full sounds come exclusively from the twin guitars of Rachael and Chris and the drumming of Odell. Perhaps it's not the beginning of a trend, but this particular power trio certainly makes it work”

BIO:
With a combination of dynamic instrumentation, cathartic lyrics, and fierce live shows, The Fallen One has taken the DC music scene by storm. Over the years, The Fallen One has been influenced by bands including Hum, At the Drive In, PJ Harvey, The Smashing Pumpkins, Failure, Rainer Maria, Dredg, The Appleseed Cast, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

The Fallen One brings textured, lush guitar melodies in combination with a thick, aggressive, distorted sound, powerful vocals, and a driving rhythm section.

The Fallen One began in November of 2002. Since a permanent bass player did not seem to work for The Fallen One, they realized their sound was just as powerful as a three piece, featuring two guitars and drums.

The Fallen One has played several venues, in DC including The Black Cat, DC Nine, and the Velvet Lounge in Washington, DC. The trio has also played at The Ottobar, Sonar, The Side Bar and Charm City Art Space in Baltimore, and numerous venues in Virginia such as Dr. Dremos and The Laughing Lizard. The band has played all along the east cost at such clubs as The Continental and The C-note in New York. The Fallen One has played the South by Southwest Festival in Austin, TX. The Fallen One has also done its share of benefits and festivals such as the Arlington Music Scene, the D.C. Arts Festival, Art-O-Matic, and the Millennium Music Conference.

The Fallen One has shared the stage with many talented bands including: Jucifer, The Appleseed Cast, Aloha, Victory at Sea, Kudzu Wish,Wheatus, Sara Bettens of K's Choice, Wakefield, The Alphabetical Order, Koshari, Alcian Blue, The Chance, Kill Ketura, Cinemechanica, and Run Silent Run Deep among others.
