Bio
The Fancy Dress Party...
a band of oddballs originally hailing from a small town in Essex, playing melancholic folk and roll songs about love, loss and friendship.
With a general love for life, and varied live formations, The Fancy Dress Party are, to quote some kind words, 'vast becoming a cult band locally, largely due to their consistently brilliant live shows'
The band consists of friends, brothers and lovers.
We like Radiohead, Grizzly Bear, Modest Mouse,The National, Arcade Fire, CocoRosie, Sufjan Stevens, Broken Social Scene, Tom Waits.
'Multi armed and multi talented bucolic folk group drawing similarities with Beirut' - Culture as a Dare
'The Fancy Dress Party - big folk, welsh strings, epic outros' - High Off The Dancehalls
'Whilst there is a playful (filled with glockenspiels and delicate intricate melodies) feature to their songs that call to mind the new-folk of Noah and the Whale and Peggy Sue, there is also a more introspective intricacy and classical embelish, that echos Sufjan Stevens, Beirut, Owen Pallet and others... some of their early songs to emerge online show a real promise for a really good new band.' - rockfeedback.com
'vast becoming a cult band locally, largely due to their consistently brilliant live shows' - Leigh Folk Festival
