The Faraways is a psychedelicfolkycountryrockband from Utrecht, Holland.
Once founded as a country combo, nowadays the Faraways play a mixture of faraways-originals, honky tonk classics and obscure sixties gems.
Two great voices that blend together like Loretta and Conway, Dolly and Porter, Emmylou and Gram, jangling and twanging guitars and a soulful solid rhythm section.
Singer, guitar player and main songwriter Ronald Visser is more than a local hero and known for his work in legendary bands as The Comedown and The Daxls.
Singer Jolanda Peters is the new voice of Dutch country and blue grass music and has played with the Blue Grass Boogiemen, Ruud Hermans and, on a regular basis, Four Wheel Drive.
Drummer Erickson Rinsema has been dwelling in p-funk (Gelly Booty), reggae (Basket Mouth) and waltzes (Mme Perdu) before getting his country baptizing in The Faraways.
Guitarist Erik Bosten has shared many hours on stage with Erickson, playing in both Basket Mouth and Mme Perdu.
Last one to join the ranks: Joris Reijn has been the solid base of Dutch/ American roots band Swamp Chicken.
With country music as a starting point all these influences add up to a unique sound. Hope you like it.
