Bio

Formed in 1989, The Fargone Beauties were the worldwide originators of “thrashgrass”, which is the performance of classic rock songs the way they were truly intended to be – loud, electric and bluegrass style. The band released three albums, performed on countless TV shows, played all the pubs and clubs, and scared the life out of audiences at every major country music festival in Australia.

The band reformed in 2006 in response to ongoing demand for their special brand of musical mayhem. The Fargones enjoyed legendary status as a sure-fire, crowd pleasing big event drawcard throughout their earlier incarnation, and no band has since been able to provide the attention grabbing mix of fast electric bluegrass, hard rockin’ country, big vocal harmonies and a leaning towards absurd humour that are the trademarks of a Fargs performance. This is exactly what the band delivered in their first performance together in 12 years when they returned to the main stage at The Gympie Music Muster in August 2006.

The 2006 line-up features original members Terry Murray, James Gillard and John Spence, plus drummer Mark Marriott who replaced the band’s first drummer Tommy Emmanuel (yes, that Tommy Emmanuel).

The Fargone Beauties still play all their classic thrashgrass hits including Wild Thing, Lonesome Me, Hey Joe, Stairway To Heaven, Highway To Hell, Play That Country Music, Hey Good Lookin, Born To Be Wild, and continue the tradition of genre bending classic rock and country songs until they’re completely rewired, and slightly unhinged.

To coincide with their Gympie appearance the band also released a new CD, “A Load Of Old Bullocks – The Best of The Fargone Beauties” which features 20 of their best known tracks including all of the above songs and everything else that fits.
