the female jazz art

 Vienna, Vienna, AUT

Jazz has long ceased to be an exclusively male domain. If proof should still be needed, it is provided by The FeMale Jazz Art. Coaxing warmly glowing sounds from their saxophone and piano, Swantje Lampert and Barbara Rektenwald are moving effortlessly between Jazz, Latin and classics and take their listeners (of either sex) to a state of absolute wellbeing. Their own compositions, smooth ballads and romantic jazz waltzes, are combined with surprising arrangements of well known classics by Erik Satie, Johannes Brahms or Edvard Grieg. The strength of these women is subtlety: their music is light without being frothy, and all the more powerful for not putting on any pressure. With Peter Strutzenberger on double bass and Andy Winkler on drums the duo has found renowned musicians from the Austrian music scene for its band.
