The Fernets

The Fernets are five swaggering young provocateurs from the city of Tromsø, Northern Norway. With stylish elegance and boisterous energy they deliver brilliantly simple and clever rock songs. After taking to Norwegian stages in 2005 the group has established themselves as a tight, cheerful and confident unit with a carefree detachment to the trials and tribulations often found in rock music. The Fernets’ upfront naivety and honesty reveals a strong celebratory quality in their music, which contains clear references to modern music legends like Supergrass and Razorlight. Drawing influences from the likes of The Velvet Underground, The Stone Roses and The Stooges they wield and control a powerful musical legacy perfected by The Hives and The Strokes before them.

The band was formed after meeting in a local pub, consuming the Italian spirit of Fernet Branca, from which they have taken their name. Despite the shambolic and disastrous side effects often associated to the drink, The Fernets have created an uncompromisingly bright and rowdy masterpiece from the aftermath of the bands initial union.

A live performance by The Fernets is a tour-de-force of young ambition and their reputation has grown rapidly as a consequence. Firstly due to the charismatic and Iggy-ish figure of lead singer Knut Bjørnar Ulriksen but also based on the quality and the depth of their song writing craftsmanship.

After winning the national unsigned competition Zoom in 2006, The Fernets toured the length of Norway . Their first single I Got No Time was on heavy rotation on the Norwegian radio channel Petre and NRK Lydverket made a short documentary following the band during by:Larm 2006. 2007 will be the defining year of their career as the band aims to skyrocket and explode into the stratosphere of popular music.

The Fernets is an intelligent rock n’ roll juggernaut, conquering with incredible ease, both eardrum and eyeball.
