Get It Right

Written By: Michael Ferrence

Always wanted something just like what we have.

I tried all the time. But I couldn’t get it right.
I tried all the time but I couldn’t get it right.

So I imagined you long before we’d ever met.

I tried all the time. But I couldn’t get it right.
I tried all the time but I couldn’t get it right.

So we could be together til we really had the chance.

I tried all the time. But I couldn’t get it right.
I tried all the time but I couldn’t get it right.

The Weather

Written By: Michael Ferrence

While waiting there I thought about the origin. Trying to get my head around the beginning and all that there would be.

If there’s some way I could know for sure, I will. Just keep picturing the openness of everything while we’re turning.

When the water came ashore
Our bodies opened; they changed the weather.

Overjoyed you finally stepped in front of me. What once were merely thoughts is really happening. If you’re here, then I must be.

When the water came ashore
Our bodies opened; they changed the weather.

Indelible summer, I think of years ago when we first started spending time together when the weather patterns all changed.

As the rolling waves revolt the blurry sky is fractured leaving sparkling sun above. We are anchored to the shore of the Atlantic.

Although

When the broken bottle tips and you’re gone there’s always someone who awaits your safe return. I’ll be pressed against the window with the music on.

When you speak someone requites. All the moments we would have missed without our perfectly placed prints. What once was so demoralizing doesn’t even matter anymore.

Although

We will fasten to the ground tomorrow. Wholly beloved, hands are leaves and legs are stems. Our lives have grown and rooted.

We will veer from side to side. In the end I'm sure what's treasured will remain in the center of the soil. You're the only reason that I'm not alone.

Realigned

Written By: Michael Ferrence

I tried my best to be with you the other day.
I can’t remember what I said; unsure what I didn’t say.
Unlike most everything, this won’t go away.
Yeah, every minute turns faster through. Well, I’m going now but I’ll be back soon.

One night you gave a call and came to stay.
Once you uncover one memory, they’re all falling into place.
We better learn to enjoy these long, slow days.
It depends on whether or not we’re looking too far ahead to see tomorrow morning.

If we live near the beach, we won’t ever burn.
We'll dream of tomorrow forever.

We were closer than we knew the entire time.
While I was wondering, you were the prettiest one in there.
We were good before we were; it’s just better now.
Combined parts of me with some of you; realigned with one another like the tide and moon.

If we live near the beach, we won’t ever burn.
We'll dream of tomorrow forever.
