NEWS FLASH!- The Finishing School have just been selected to be part of 'tunetank' SXSW festival 2006 which is a showcase of unsigned australian and international artists, going to the festival in the USA in march of this year!The tune chosen was 'You make me laugh. We were also chosen by the same company in december, to be on a compilation CD going to MIDEM 2006 in Cannes France, the song chosen 'better'. So far 'The Finishing School's' tune are having a great response!We are very excited about this!

Formally known as the EmC Quartet, The Finishing School have returned after a two year hiatus whilst band members traveled overseas and pursued other projects.
Forming originally in 2001, the band has evolved the present day lineup of sibling pairs Thom and Emily Combe (guitar, vocals and violin, vocals respectively) and Tristan and Zac Courtney (double bass, electric bass and drum kit, percussion). As one of Adelaide ’s hardest working bands, The Finishing School have played regular shows at The Grace Emily, The Exeter, The Rhino Room, Riffs Music Lounge, Supermild, The Union Hotel, Fad Bar, The Austral and launched their sellout debut EP of 2003 at The Governor Hindmarsh. They have also performed with Evermore, Abbie Cardwell, FRUIT and The Borderers.
The Finishing School’s sound is a blend of cool, acoustic tones with sonorous melodies and harmonies, accompanied by one of the tightest rhythm sections going around today. The Finishing School list among their influences bands and musicians such as Radiohead, Massive Attack, Air, Lamb, Ben Harper, the Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, System of a Down and Nick Drake.
Featured recently in Rip It Up and The Sunday Mail, The Finishing School are making a new assault on the Adelaide and Australian music scene, with a new big sound and a new EP in the pipeline.
