The First Pass

Growing up in the Toronto area, brothers Kristjan and Ben Bergey had always shared an insatiable enthusiasm for all things musical, picking up instruments and trying things at every opportunity. With their lives leading them on separate paths at times, and in sync at others, the road to their dream of putting a band together sometimes seemed endless. Finally, having met up with drummer Dave McArthur, bassist Mason Stoner and longtime friend and guitarist Charles Taylor, their dream became a reality. The First Pass is a labour of love, and an outlet for music that has been a long time in the making. Combining their favourite moments of 90s alt-rock with original ideas rooted in everything from jazz to jam bands to cinema, they create a soundscape that is frequently ambitious, but ultimately just strives to invite everyone to come have a good time and rock out.
