Lyrics

In Solitude, Standing

Written By: David Gustafson

in solitude, standing
i've done what i should
in solitude, knowing
in the end they remember the good

in solitude, standing
i've done what is right
in solitude, knowing
another morning will follow this night

give me your secrets
i'll give you my key
to lock them away deep inside of me
unlike the child, inside it's mother
behind every door
opens always another

in solitude, standing
i bask in my shade
in solitude, knowing
my cause will become their crusade

give me your secrets
i'll give you my key
to lock them away deep inside of me
unlike the child, inside it's mother
behind every voice
whispers softly another

in solitude, standing
never losing or winning
i'll stand in my shadow
for this ending is only beginning

Between The East and West

Written By: David Gustafson

leave me alone
leave me alone
but please don't leave me
your hear my words
i don't know why
you never do believe me

let it be
let it be
just don't let it be for nothing
the water's cold
much too cold
much too cold for washing

i'm tired, so tired
but still i cannot sleep
i want and want
far more than i can keep

the war goes on
it rages on
between the east and west
but both reside
inside the heart
that beats inside my chest

days go by
like strangers' eyes
i see and soon forget
the promised sun
is gagged and bound
the moon shines its regret

another day
another day
and another day will pass
i try to go
but cannot move
from my side of the glass

the war goes on
it rages on
between the east and west
but both reside
inside the heart
that beats inside my chest

the war goes on
and on and on
between the east and west
i close my eyes
my tired eyes
it's time to get some rest

leave me alone
leave me alone
but please don't leave me

Sleep

Written By: David Gustafson

the sun has fallen
and the calling begun
the circle has come around again
mother and child again are one
this is the time
to think of what you've taught
to never let it wander
through the hollow of my thought
"don't be afraid", you said
"when darkess steals your sight
accept the past
but don't give up the fight"
the irony of knowledge
is found in the final plan
as the man returns to childhood
and his child becomes the man
you taught me to live
that life is not cheap
i thank you for this lesson
as i lay you down to sleep

the love that has been given
is all that you could take
i see it in your empty eyes
and my hands begin to shake
inception smiles upon us
and leads us by the hand
but slowly forms the ice
over the ground on which we stand
there's a room for pleasure
inside this house of pain
however far you go
i know i'll be with you again
today i finally realized
what it's all been worth
as i lay your broken body
down inside the earth
there will be a time when
we will laugh (after we weep)
but now the time has come for me to go--it's time for you to sleep

i screamed into the air
and it blew me away
i whispered to the wind
and it told me we will meet again someday
i looked in the face of love
and it broke my heart
i found myself
when i tore my soul apart

today i finally realized
what it's all been worth
as i lay your broken body
down inside the earth
the road, it may be endless
the rivers may run deep
but you know that i will love you
until i join you in your sleep

there will be a time when
we will laugh (after we weep)
but now the time has come for me to go--it's time for you to sleep
