The Flower Drums are a five piece, folk-pop band hailing from Perth, Western Australia. With beautiful 60's inspired melodies and luscious instrumentation, The Flower Drums are an act not to be missed.

Biography

The Flower Drums formed in July 2011, from what was originally a bedroom recording project and the brainchild of ex-Streetlight-er Leigh Craft.

The quintet have quickly shaped a distinctive sound that mixes traditional folk melodies with the dreamy ambient undertones of 60's pop music.

Their debut EP 'Shadows Aren't Real' was recorded in Ferntree Gully, and intended as a musical gift for friends, but after word spread and the radio started playing it, it inevitably took on a life of it's own.

A sold out single launch for their online only release of 'Outside The Province' saw an increased local and national interest in The Flower Drums. In addition to the success of 'Outside The Province,' fan favourite 'Rain Drips On' was selected by the Triple J unearthed team for national airplay.

July 2012 will see the launch of The Flower Drums' second EP, 'Suburban Wilderness' and will surely sit them firmly atop the next crop of Australian artists ready to make waves in the international market.

Lyrics

Swimmers

Written By: Leigh Craft

Through my window
Sitting on cloud nine sometimes
I think i've got to get my head screwed back on
People sitting in the hallway laughing
Floating through the days and wondering
Where they're all gone

To tell you the truth
There's life left in you
To tell you the truth
There's life left in me to

You know it makes me wonder
Where I'm going to go when I get old
I guess i'll leave and go where the wind blows

Day dreams of wild things
Cold rivers flowing and trees over growing
I feel the waves lick my hand
I'm a stranger in a strange land

To tell you the truth
There's life left in you
To tell you the truth
There's life left in me to

Rain Drips On

Written By: Leigh Craft

We went out walking before the rain dripped on
We wondered and looked for something we ain't seen before
There's no point taking anything but your soul
The sound of willows whistling like a ghost

And you wanted to walk through the fire
And i told you the flames would get higher
Like two people kissing in a riot
Never run from a storm

I drove all day til the night time fell with rain
On flooded streets that wind until they break
It's the kind of path that sends a sane man insane
But I won't turn back
Coz I'm not like that

And you wanted to walk through the fire
And i told you the flames would get higher
Like two people kissing in a riot
Never run from a storm

Outside The Province

Written By: Leigh Craft

Jump inside along for the ride
Daylights dull but not yet dark
Seasons changing life rearranging
Nature keeps surprising us

And we drive
And we jam and we jive
Hold my hand and hear my heart

You've got to understand
My merry goes round and round and round again
The devil moves my hand
And it goes on

Daylight flies open your eyes
Check your phone it's time to get up
Hard is it hard is it hard is it hard
Living not knowing exactly where you are

I was born with a belly full of fire
I was born with a belly full of fire
yeah yeah yeah

You've got to understand
My merry goes round and round and round again
The devil moves my hand
And it goes on
