"Fat Shan Music Launch Party - The Bakery"

Up next were The Flower Drums who had a great folk rock kinda sound, with some great expressive vocals and a lovely guitar driven sound. The band cut a charismatic and engaging presence on stage, with a good bit of banter going on. Armed with some well-crafted melodies and intelligent and subtle lyrics The Flower Drums are certainly a band to look out for in the future. - The AU Review

"The Flower Drums Single Launch - The Bird"

There are few bands that can get away with including a recorder riff in the middle of a song; The Flower Drums are one of those few. Not sure how, but they are. They are an extremely fun band to watch ply their trade on stage; it was pretty clear from the outset that frontman Leigh Craft and the rest of the band were having great fun up on stage. They also seem the sharing bunch with Craft pulling assorted musicalfolk up on stage to join in. With the weather slowly deteriorating outside, the crowd were treated to a tight set, with some great psych rock vibes. Vocally the band seemed spot on, though I would have liked to hear the vocals a little higher in the mix, occasionally they were slightly lost amongst the strong instrumental combination. Not only were the audience treated to a great night of music, they also got to walk off with their very own free download, cleverly attached to a flower. I left the venue feeling suitably cheered, and definitely looking forward to seeing The Flower Drums on a stage somewhere some time soon. - The AU Review

Bio

The Flower Drums formed in July 2011, from what was originally a bedroom recording project and the brainchild of ex-Streetlight-er Leigh Craft.

The quintet have quickly shaped a distinctive sound that mixes traditional folk melodies with the dreamy ambient undertones of 60's pop music.

Their debut EP 'Shadows Aren't Real' was recorded in Ferntree Gully, and intended as a musical gift for friends, but after word spread and the radio started playing it, it inevitably took on a life of it's own.

A sold out single launch for their online only release of 'Outside The Province' saw an increased local and national interest in The Flower Drums. In addition to the success of 'Outside The Province,' fan favourite 'Rain Drips On' was selected by the Triple J unearthed team for national airplay.

July 2012 will see the launch of The Flower Drums' second EP, 'Suburban Wilderness' and will surely sit them firmly atop the next crop of Australian artists ready to make waves in the international market.
