Bio

The Folk Goddesses is a fresh, feisty trio comprised of three of the Long Island/NYC area's favorite singer/songwriters: Hillary Foxsong, Martha Trachtenberg and Judith Zweiman.

Brought together by a concert promoter for what they thought was a one-time show in September 2010, the three ladies were surprised to find their voicemails and inboxes filling up with offers to reprise that initial sold-out gig, and soon realized they were having too much fun to stop.

Long past that earnest sweet-young-thing-with-a-guitar stage, The Folk Goddesses bring a wisecracking wisdom to all the topics they cover, moving audiences to laughter and tears.

Goddess Martha, a founding member of the Buffalo Gals, has worked in Nashville, sung for TV commercials, and is a member of the group Return to the Dream. She performs both solo and with her husband Tom Griffith.

Goddess Judith was part of the early NYC folk scene and has recorded numerous times for Fast Folk Musical Magazine (now Smithsonian-Fast Folk). She was also featured in several of the Fast Folk Revues at the Bottom Line in NYC. She performs solo and with the duo Strike the Bell.

In lieu of having a midlife crisis, Goddess Hillary opted to pick up a guitar for the first time since junior high and embark on a career as a folksinger. Five years later, as one-third of the popular harmony trio Gathering Time, she is also a respected songwriter and performer in her own right.

In their short time together, The Folk Goddesses have already found a following of passionate fans. Bring them to your venue and let your audience join the faithful!
