The Forefall

The Forefall

 Brentwood, Missouri, USA
BandAlternativeRock

An alternative rock band which harnesses the classic-rock tones of the 70's, beautiful string sectionals, and incredible 'radio-head' like tenor vocals. Our album was self-produced and engineered and is our attempt to reinvigorate the dynamic performances of the 60's/70's with a modern twist.

Biography

Our music can be classified as cross between radiohead/beatles/zeppelin. We have a darker twist of these styles/genres that brings the listener in through catchy chordal structures, yet has a haunting overtone.

Many members met at Washington University and developed the group after playing on-campus acts. After a few 'headcount' changes and picking up a wonderful string section, we spent a year building a studio/amps/etc and produced our first album. Final mastering by industry guru Bob Katz.

Devil In Disguise

Written By: The Forefall

Follow me down
Follow me down to your red open heart
Feeling no fear, trouble despair, everybody does

What have we here
Another lost soul with a song in her ear
The Devil can play, but it’s dear you will pay, everybody does

Happiness needs its sorrows
You’ll pay the bill that follows
Rolling out the corner of your eye

So much for being happy
So long to sweet and sappy
Running with the devil in disguise

Follow me down
Down to your dreams and your hopes and your fears
Through all the years drowning in tears, everybody does

Follow me down
Follow me down tonight
They brought you here, world could care, everybody does

Happiness needs its sorrows
You’ll pay the bill that follows, rolling out the corner of your eye

So much for being happy
So long to sweet and sappy
Running with the Devil in disguise

Lonely times drowning out all your cries
Feeling the fear, trouble despair like everybody does

Can't Let Go

Written By: The Forefall

So now I know I don’t have anybody here to call my own, well
Jester wants to laugh at all our indiscretions
It’s all too well I know, we had to let her go

Clocks run without the fear of ever falling
The gears so hard and cold, well
Way past the point of reconciliation and though she tried to hold
I sent her all alone

All on her own, in the cold unknown
Away alone, now with half her soul
And now I know exactly what it is I stole

Fall down, all your fears hit the ground
So now, you won’t be coming round

Sunday a cappella hymn heard from the hallway
The cries let us know she had to let us go

One Last Look

Written By: The Forefall

How long, please say I don’t have long
Cause I’m so tired of the running
You don’t realize everyone’s been telling lies
And that’s why I’m moving on

Everywhere that you were
All the bridges you burned
Everyone that you owned
Every time you off and let her go
Take one last look around
Fake a smile and take a bow

Oh no, I see it in your eyes
A look that says I got it coming
To no great surprise
Everyone that you despise
Turns out they had you right

Everywhere that you were
All the bridges you burned
Everyone that you owned
All the ways you off and let her go
Take one last look around
Fake a smile and take a bow

Everyone that you know
All the love that you stole
Every time you explode
All the way you never let it go
Take one last look around
Fake a smile and take a bow

Everywhere

Written By: The Forefall

There’s no time again, drawing out the lines
Gone another night, never think about the price
Being everywhere except for where we need to be

Where’s my head again, holding up the line
Right or wrong I said, paying almost any price
And I’m everywhere except for where I need to be

Take your time don’t fall in love too fast
Cause you know there’s no turning back
And you’ll just sit there wishing all you had
Could be again once more

Thanks for killing me, one night at a time
Go and find yourself, and I’ll pay all the price
Of being everywhere, except for where we need to be

Only So Much

Written By: Th

Hey, what’s so wrong with just try’in to get along
Takes everything I have now
Cause we’ve all been wrong and right
With broken dreams and burned out lights
Well, it’s so hard to carry on

You’ve got reasons drawing the lines
They’ve got reasons for all they do
Tear my heart out draw in a sigh
There’s only so much that I can do to follow you

Everywhere that you were and don’t belong
All the things that were said and left alone
All the times that you tried to rise above
If everything went bad you’d never know

Hey why so long years from now we’ll be gone
And did it ever really matter anyhow
You’ve got reasons drawing the lines
They’ve got reasons for all they do
Tear my heart out draw in a sigh
There’s only so much that I can do to follow you

Everywhere that you were and don’t belong
All the things that were said and left alone
All the times that you tried to rise above
If everything went bad, if things went bad
You’d never know, your face wouldn’t show
The giant black hole that was your soul

Leaving Me

Written By: The Forefall

When you’re on your feet again nobody ever knows
Led on and read again the note you left on the table
Without a reason why, our hands are tied in place
Hang on by the last thread until we come crashing down

With everything that’s said
With all these voices in our heads
Driving like your lost
Well lost is where we are
And always where we’ll be
There’s no point in turning around
You’re leaving, you’re leaving me for sure

With everything that’s said
With all these voices in our heads
Driving like your lost
Well lost is where we are
And always where we’ll be
There’s no point in turning around
You’re leaving, you’re leaving me for sure

Man Of All Our Fears

Written By: The Forefall

Hold on, my dear Mona Lisa
There’s someone I’d like you to meet
He’s a consequence of everybody else’s disease
And he wants to be the one who gets you on your knees

We’re so glad to finally meet you here
We’re so glad to finally meet you here
We’re all wrung out, strung out, year on year
We’re so glad to finally meet the man of all our fears

Hold on, I know you’ve got reasons
For making up more than you can see
If you’ve ever felt led on then let me make myself clear
I just want to be the man of all your fears

We’re so glad to finally meet you here
We’re so glad to finally meet you here
We’re all wrung out, strung out, year on year
We’re so glad to finally meet the man of all our fears

Nothing At All

Written By: The Forefall

Living on the hopes and dreams of yesterday when I
Don’t like the way things seem so indirect and subtle
Any fool can close their eyes to their own needs only
To find a circle of lies about its corners

Never trust a sinner driven by his lies
Don’t believe the preacher check his alibi’s
When they want to tell you how they found the light
Turn and walk away

Trying hard not to make things real just by living in them
Anything just to make us feel order in the chaos
Any fool can lose their mind to the voices only
To find no reasons why, and you know this

Never trust a sinner driven by his lies
Don’t believe the preacher check his alibi’s
When they want to tell you how they found the light
Turn and walk away

Living on the hopes and dreams
Things aren’t quite as they seem
Let it go but I can’t let it go no I won’t it go

There’s no release in silence
There’s not crystal ball
There’s no release in silence
No there’s nothing at all

Discography

Our first album 'No Release In Silence' was released in June 2009. We are starting to get some radioplay on local college stations and are pushing it on satellite/internet stations. We're trying to push 'Devil In Disguise' though many of our other tracks are also becoming popular

Set List

We normally play for ~1 hr. Our album is short (28 min) though we extend out our songs for live performances. We occasionally throw in a few covers to show off our vocal and instrumental ranges. Examples are 'Dream On' 'Black Dog' & radiohead.
