From the rocky shores of the Grand River comes the newest hard-hitting, powerhouse rock band from Brantford, Ontario - The Fountain of Useless!

Frustrated with the bland sound of the local band scene and wanting to get back to their musical roots, Matt Hanley and Mike Cole left Los Angeles Music Award winning band Su8ck and set out to form a new band, using the heavier hard rock sound they grew up listening to.

In January 2006, they began their search for top calibre musicians to create a high energy band that would fill the hole in Southern Ontario's rock scene. They scoured South-Western Ontario to find a "live wire" guitarist who could live up to the task of writing and performing an edgy brand of rock and roll. As the dust settled after hours of auditions, Cliff "New Kid" Burke emerged as the clear winner with his powerful style and backing vocals.

The three pioneers set forth to find just the right rhythm section for this musical powerhouse. After several months of mediocre auditions and waning hope that a power bassist would ever be found, Rich "Broke Leg" Sibley, with his amazing ability for hot riffs and his extensive musical background emerged as the fourth member of The F.O.U. While Dan Kotiuk filled in, The F.O.U. expanded its search for an over-the-top presence to enhance the hard driving rhythm section. With a stage presence all his own, Nick "Nicky Chardonnay" Harrington became the fifth and final piece to round out the lineup. Wasting no time, The F.O.U. began a rigorous practice schedule and hit the studio. As the hype of this hard rocking, back-to-basics band ensued, The F.O.U had their debut performance at Liquid Lounge in Brantford, Ontario on February 11, 2007. By the spring of 2007, their first single "Psychosomatic" was released to rave reviews with featured radio play as far away as Detroit, Michigan and Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Since their debut, The F.O.U.'s straight-forward, in your face sound has garnered much praise and an ever growing fan base. The summer of 2007 brought The F.O.U. a finalist spot in Y108's Bandslam with a chance to win an opening set at the famous "Rock and Roll Picnic" in Gage Park, Hamilton and the band has kept things rolling in 2008 by making it's way into the third round of the BODOG International Battle of the Bands. The popularity and demand for The F.O.U. ensures that you can catch them almost any weekend night at one of area's hot spots.
