"Collection of reviews"

"The Foxglove Trio were fantastic - a beautiful blend of fabulous vocals, guitar, cello, melodeon, concertina and bodhran, their music was gorgeous and they were witty and charming as a group."
Helen Chinn, Watford Folk Club

"The Foxglove Trio captivated the Readifolk audience - young, dynamic and very talented musicians. We shall certainly be booking this group again."
Una & Colin, Readifolk (Reading's Folk Song & Music Club)

"Ffion, Patrick & Catherine were one of the headliners on our Free Folk Blues & Steam Day on Redbourn Common this summer (2011). A large crowd sat in the sunshine to listen to a lovely mixture of tunes and songs from the British Isles, both well played and sung by this very talented trio. I didnt need any persuasion to invite them back to Redbourn Folk Club as guests in the autumn. By then they had also impressed Towersey Folk Festival by winning their Open Stage event which meant they opened for Spires & Boden. We had quite a crowd for their guest appearance with many people travelling a distance to hear more of them. We hope they will be making a cd fairly soon and get the wider recognition they deserve. Well worth looking out for them at a folk club or festival."
Jan Strapp, Redbourn Folk Club

"Ffion Mair sings with a power and clarity I have not heard in folk music since Maddy Prior first sent shivers through me. Her low notes are disturbingly good, the high notes thrilling, and all sung with sufficient decoration to establish her as one of the finest singers around. Together with Patrick Dean and Catherine Mason they form The Foxglove Trio who offer a unique and very talented performance. They are one the best groups I have heard and were highly rated by the audience at the Woburn Sands Folk Festival."
John Timpany, Woburn Sands Folk Festival

“The Foxglove Trio were universally admired by our audience; “book them again!” was the request from everyone. So we did. Great music, nice people.”
Alan and Sue Hewson, Baldock & Letchworth Folk Club - Collected from bookings

Bio

Our music is drawn from the traditional songs and tunes of the British Isles as well as from contemporary artists such as Karine Polwart, Julie Matthews and Anne Esslemont.

Members of the band originally come from Yorkshire and Wales and we therefore sing a number of traditional songs in Welsh arranged in new and interesting ways. We enjoy discovering less well-known folk songs and bringing them back to life through our own interpretations and arrangements.

We are a trio but play many instruments between us which means that we can experiment with a wide range of tones and textures during a set.

We have been playing together since November 2010 and have since developed a solid fan base through doing many gigs in UK folk clubs and festivals.
