Fire up your laptops, polish your beakers: The science-loving Cambridge rock band The Franklin Kite is playing a show at the Bulfinch Yacht Club this Friday to benefit their favorite science-loving candidate, Christopher Gabrieli.
The band (named for Ben's experiment) features an astrophysicist and two "computer experts" from Portsmouth, NH. Their bio says their music "harnesses the huge potential of a laptop-integrated live performance, creating a sound that is glitch-pop meets the Beastie Boys" and promises its live show will "both engage your mind and make you shake your behind."
So who says Gabrieli's backers are trailing Deval Patrick in terms of net savvy?
The event will feature a meet and greet with Gabrieli from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., followed by live music from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $5, the door take benefits campaign. You've got to be 21 to attend. - Boston.com

The band has released their self-titled debut EP. Songs are available for download under the Creative Commons Sampling+ License, which means you can download it, share it, and even remix it commercially under some circumstances.

The Franklin Kite is an rock/pop/electronic band based in Cambridge, MA. They are on a mission to create powerful and engaging rock that harnesses the expressive potential of a laptop-integrated live performance. Their sound is glitch-pop meets the Beastie Boys, the delicate melodies of Coldplay meet the infectious energy of Beck.
TFK has played many venerable rock clubs around the Northeast and in March 2007 completed a successful residency at the Abbey Lounge in Somerville, MA.
