"The Freys"

"The Frey Perfomers were spectacular!" - The Ukiah Daily Journal

"Music Reviews: The Freys"

"Dan, Sam and Adam Frey began writing music together when they were students at The Waldorf School of Mendocino. They have produced their first CD that combines vocals, drums, acoustic bass and guitar instrumentations into a light, airy, world music sound. The CD's rhythms combine a Brazilian influence with undertones of folk and applachian music. The original lyrics demonstrate that these three young people are wise beyond their years." - Lilipoh Magazine

"Doug Browe, Mendocino College"

"The Freys are incredibly inspiring musicians." - Mendocino College

"Better than Anything on the Radio in the Past Decade"

"The Freys' music is better than anything I've heard on the radio in the past decade." - Mr. Franklin

"Bioneers Music"

The Freys’ music is joyous, lyrical and uplifting, with a unique blend that seems to combine reggae, newgrass and world beat. It is at once playful, energizing and smoothe, with lyrics and rhythms that seem at once familiar and brand new. Great music to move to, the Freys have created a unique sound that’s a great delight to discover.

“The Freys burst onto the music scene with rhythms and sinsitivity reminiscent of Paul Simon when he visited South Africa. Sweet, heartfelt vocals from Dan Frey have an innocent joy not heard since Jonathan Richmond and his Modern Lovers carries us all back to the unbearable sweetness of first love and the love of youth. As with Richmond, the simple purity of the instrumentation perfectly supports the sentiments of the Freys’ songs. This is a band to watch!! And I mean that literally because the Freys must be a real pleasure to see live.”
--David Hosbein

The Freys have released three albums, the self-titled first album, "The Freys," the second release, "People are Sacred," and their most recent addition, "Here: Inner Silence." The Freys are currently performing as a quartet with the musical styling of Daniel Frey on lead vocals and guitar, and the occasional banjo, ukelele, accordion, or piano in the mix. Daniel's brother Sam Frey performs on the stand-up bass, and adds harmony vocals to the Frey brothers' arrangements. Soul brother, Agustin del Norte has joined them on the drums and harmony vocals, and Mori Natura (Daniel's wife) plays on the mandola, with high harmony vocals. This newest incarnation of the Freys has been performing in Northern California venues, pleasing their loyal following of fans that they're back!

The Freys call home the hills of Mendocino County on an extraordinary family community: Frey Vineyards Organic Winery and Farm. Much of the food is sustainably grown in between the vine rows and in surrounding orchards, gardens and pastures including: potatoes, vegetables, fruits and dairy. Any visitor to Frey Vineyards will see long rows of solar panels, flow form fountains, forests, bird songs, ponds, and if you're lucky, you'll hear the musical musings of the barefoot Frey musicians.
