"The Friends of Rock-n-Roll"

"This Portland, Oregon quartet is raw poppy fun. The songs range from the '60s feel-good pop of 'Carrie Ann' to the '80s synth-pop of 'Company Man.' The lo-fi, demo quality adds to the allure of the R&B dance vibe going on, which raises expectations for the live show. In its bio, the bands says it is 'rebirthing the melodic, harmonic and rhythmic soul that once ignited the great R&B acts of the early '60s. The Friends of Rock-n-Roll take music back to a time when people could shake it like they meant it.' by the end of this five-song demo/EP/sample, mission accomplied."

Bio

The Friends of Rock-n-Roll are not here to mess around. Since 2003, they have made exciting, diverse, and very happening music. Giving a nod to the bygone era of early rock-n-roll, The Friends pull out swinging garagy beats with spot on harmony vocals. The roll is put back in the rock-n-roll here, and concentration is moved away from the listeners head to their hips and hidden parts. The image is sexy, the sound is hot and its going to burn a place for itself and raise the bar of expectations for what other bands should accomplish.
During their spring tour of 2006, The Friends kept hearing one word from listeners that resonated most. That word was "refreshing", and that's exactly what The Friends are, a refreshing experience in honest, sincere music without post-modern cynicism or tuneless music. These guys are true musicians, and are going to put that in the forefront so it is known that it is possible. Until you hear The Friends, you may think rock-n-roll is dead
