The Funk Ark

The Funk Ark was born out of the small but vibrant jazz scene of the nation's capital, Washington, DC in 2007. Keyboardist Will Rast created the group out of a love for big band funk and afrobeat music. He had worked for years in DC as a session player and because of this, he knew a great player to fill every position needed for a small big band. The group has spent the last two years performing and studying the Afrobeat and world funk sound, all the while developing Will's original material written in those genres. The result is a very tight 9 piece groove band that can play anywhere. With anyone.
