The Gary Newcomb Trio

Formed in Austin, Texas in 2007 and releasing their self titled debut in 2008, GNT is unique in their approach to the trio format. Along with bass and drums, the lead instrument is a 12-string Pedal Steel Guitar. Countless gigs in Austin since their formation fused the group into a tightly focused unit that doesn't rely upon an electric guitar to define its harmonic trajectory. 

Bill Doughty, Brandon Gonzales and Gary had all met and worked together years before GNT's formation as sidemen in different projects. When finally joining forces, they each had much to bring to the mix. The recordings are primarily based around Newcomb's songwriting while the Trio's live shows branch out in all directions. Newcomb's resume includes recordings and touring with many artists including Bill Callahan, Kelly Willis, Lil’ Cap’n Travis, Richard Buckner, Okkervil River, Shearwater and Dave Gonzalez (The Paladins & The Hacienda Brothers).
