Bio
A fender bender. Not the end of the world, but also not the ideal way a band hopes to start off the trip to its first ever gig. Especially when the accident is between the two guitarists of said band. Despite this minor setback, the Gender Benders proceeded to play a 3 hour set, without rehearsing, in front of a sweaty and eager crowd. The cops were called, but the residents of the house said to keep on playing. Pants and shirts were shed, beers were spilt, songs were pulled out of nowhere. Mosh pits and kick lines were formed. Shots and Ecstasy were taken. Asses were grabbed.
That first show pretty well sums up a Gender Benders experience. We want the crowd there with us. We don't want to be seen as a separation from the crowd, but an extension of it. We're not a metal band, but we support the mosh pit. We're not a funk band, but we can tear the roof off the mother sucka.
Our sound? Funny you ask. We sound something like the Who covering Otis Redding. A psychedelic brew of garage rock, soul and punk. We like to call it Transcendental Motown.
Sure we're extremely tight now, but we still have the fire and spontaneity of that first show. We play like we might not get to play again. And we want the crowd to join us. Dance, mosh, headbang, grind, kick line, we don't care what you do. Just get into it. Celebrate life! Celebrate your youth! Just CELEBRATE!
Won't you join us in this rock n' roll adventure?
