"Laser-guided indie rock from Matt Taylor (Blastic Pubble) and co-conspirator Ryan Rollins. The Genius File takes off from the maximum psychedelia of Blastic Pubble, into a vector-graphic landscape of jagged pop hooks. An awesome debut from these mid-fi masterminds." -Robert Schneider (The Apples in stereo) - Genius File press release

The Genius File- The Genius File
Upcoming Release The Genius File-To Tie A Standing Wave (Spring of 09)

“Put that in ‘the genius file,’” said one songwriter to another. That was the sarcastic comment Ryan Rollins used to say to Matt Taylor whenever a lesser gem was brought to the table. When the songwriting duo decided their recording project needed a moniker in 2005, ‘The Genius File’ was chosen. A four piece band was formed in 2006 which played a few shows in Louisville, KY and recorded what became The Genius File’s self-released debut album. Rollins and Taylor continued writing over the next year while waiting for a new lineup to come together. Bassist/guitarist Donovan Lauderback and drummer Martin Larsen joined the group in 2008, and the rejuvenated Genius File began playing regularly around Louisville and recording new material in the Spring.
