"The Gentlemen to play Tigerfest"

Senior history major and The Gentlemen’s lead vocalist and guitarist Justin Link was standing in the back of Paws with band mate Stan Trutsi when Campus Activities Board programming chair Nick Jones announced his band as an opening Tigerfest Act. When he heard his band’s name, Link said couldn’t believe it. But rock band The Gentlemen was the winner of CAB’s Battle of the Bands contest, held at Paws Friday night, among six other bands of different genres.

Selecting a winner was a tough decision to make, according to several of the competition’s judges. Senior business administration major Andrew Rivera was not only a judge for the event, but also a member of punk-oriented band Who is Atlas, a past Battle of the Bands competitor. Rivera said he and the other judges had criterion that each band had to meet by engaging the audience in some way.

“It was really hard, but as far as musicians go, we definitely agreed on a consensus that [The Gentlemen] had the best sound out of any of the bands,” Rivera said. “They were very clear, you could understand them. They’re very technical and they didn’t mess up. They really played amazingly.”

The members of The Gentlemen said they are excited to perform at Tigerfest, which will take place at Johnny Unitas Stadium on Friday, May 6.

"THE GENTLEMEN INTERVIEW"

The Gentlemen released their first album ‘The Gentlemen are coming’ in January, and I honestly can’t wait to here more from these guys in the future. The band manage to keep things fresh with upbeat drum fills, and captivating vocals. Tracks on the album possess all the classic elements of a rock n roll sound, uplifted with interjections of vibrancy. With such wide appeal, The Gentlemen make music which is sure to please any modern-day alternative rock fan. It might even prompt the middle aged rocker to get out his old leather jacket from thirty odd years ago and jam along to the tracks. It’s music intended for the more currently inclined ear, which the old-school rockers can appreciate. - The Motion Online
