"Maps (album review)"

This Boise, ID based band brings us an album full of power pop hooks and catchy grooves. It is just good stuff. There really isn’t any defining The Getaway Car as anything but good ole power-pop rock. Thankfully this group did not get together to follow the current trend of folk revival, and instead brings you tunes that are both rocking and fun. Most of the tracks would make great singles, from the first track “Sum” to the final track “Reverse Momentum of the Great Divorce”. For those wanting comparisons, think Collective Soul, Matchbox 20, Foo Fighters, or Switchfoot, then buy the album and don’t think of any of those bands at all. The one down side is that this album is only in limited release as of right now. I’ll let you know when they release to the rest of the world.

"2011 Battle of the Bands"

The Getaway Car opened and set a high bar for the night, with what they admitted was only their fourth show. Frontman Jerry Fee has been around a long time and he definitely knows how to put on a show--the band's musicianship garnered these guys an easy second place.- Amy Atkins - Boise Weekly

Bio

There is more to a live show than performing songs in front of a crowd. It's about being able to engage them in an experience. The Getaway Car is an indie-rock/alt band that delivers a powerful, passionate sound, making their recordings an introduction to their memorable concerts. Using a megaphone, crowd participation or unexpectedly breaking down in the middle of a song with a multi-member drum solo are just some of the ways they capture the attention of new fans at a show.

The songs are written with just as much thought and energy as their live set. Based from either their own personal experiences or witnessed by others, their songs are meant to share a story. The Getaway Car is more than just another band - it is an experience.
