Bio

The Gideon Press was established in 2006 by two young men who loved to play music. The band grew and began to change over the years. As the members changed, the sound began to change as well. What started as a simple project has grown to a more mature nature. The Gideon Press still captures it's roots with raw driving rhythms with soaring vocals. What has been added is an intricate arrangement of music with flair and emotion.

The bands restructure took place in 2008 with the addition of Brian Stamper on lead guitar. Shortly after Lafayette natives Kyle Weihe and Jason Smith joined the group to complete the growing sound. In April of 2009, TGP kick started their career with a Nashville showcase at the famed Rocketown. Since that time, the band has played several shows and produced 2 music videos. They are also working on their first record deal. Although these amazing things are taking place for The Gideon Press, they stay focused on the true reason for their playing. Keeping an unfailing grasp on the cross has made TGP stand out among the crowds. It truly is not about fame and fortune with the members of TGP. Seeing the heart of Jesus Christ spread to the masses and the few is the true reward of these servants.

Mission Statement:

For years the music was consumed with thoughts of deals and future career opportunities. There was always a show to play and a never ending sea of listeners to win over. Many times the ministry seemed to get lost in the bogs of the Christian music industry. Who has the loudest band? Who plays the best set? Who has the greatest crowd response? Ultimately it becomes about who has the shiniest guitars and newest equipment.

At what point does it leave the production and get back to it's most raw nature? A piece of wood fashioned by hand into an instrument. That frail and mortal hand begins to fumble and strum. A soft word begins to rise. The word finds a melody. The most real of emotions begin to bubble forth like fresh running water from a dry stone. The wood, the hand, the voice...all created by God and now fashioned into true instruments praising The One.

It is easy to get lost in the glamorous things if you let yourself. It is also easy to get lost in the natural worship and adoration of the one who created you. The Gideon Press joyfully flees the modern mindset of a performing band. We reach for something higher with a much greater call than filling a calender with show dates. We aspire to bring the heart of true worship to the hearts of the people.

Why would it matter if not for Him? Could the string resonate through the wind if the wind was never there? Could 300 ever defeat an army of thousands in our world of natural laws and statistics? The answer to both is a simple no. As simple as this sounds, many are struggling to capture the essence of this today. The members of this band where no different. Chasing the holy grail of music. Finding that it was just a silly cup.

Prayerfully, The Gideon Press hopes to captivate you with the pulsing rhythm of the soul. Taking you on a trip from the carnality of what we have come to expect. Leaving you speechless at what can be done through the music in it's most raw nature.
