Bio

The Ginge ("short for ginger") is a talented blend of experienced and flexible musicians performing a no-frills organic brand of rustic guitar rock, power pop, with blue-eyed soul and R&B undercurrents.

No prima donnas or flakes here!! We respect our venues and our fans and have a basic philosophy - enjoy the show and invite all to participate! As such, a main differentiator of the band is its ability to deliver long sets of inspiring original material OR a mix of a few choice originals into an evening of classic and obscure cover material that gets butts moving and people singing along. It really depends on the engagement and the feel of the crowd. No egos or personal agendas allowed!

Bottom line - The Ginge is about putting on the best show possible for our fans and our venues. After quality of musicianship, the first thing fans note about The Ginge is how much the band enjoys performing and interacting, inviting all to share a light-hearted and contagious appreciation for the "good stuff" - well crafted songs delivered expertly with open spirits.

That does not mean The Ginge doesn't take it's music seriously. Influenced by the likes of Wilco, Neil Young, The Rolling Stones, James Brown, The Clash, Freddie King, Los Lobos and others, The Ginge prides itself on a tight rhythm section supporting soaring lead guitar and soulful vocals. The emphasis is on classic yet creative song structure, with individual notes carefully placed and each song creating a sonic story emphasizing open space and dynamics. In a word, The Ginge
grooves with the best of them!

In addition to playing countless small club and bar cover gigs over the years, The Ginge has established itself as a mainstay at Chicago's larger and more respected venues and festivals over the past few years. Recent performances include top local clubs Joes on Weed, Cubby Bear, and Schuba's, repeat bookings at the famous Mangy Moose Pub in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and a full slate of outside festival and event engagements including Taste of Lincoln Avenue, Halstead Market Days, Wells St. Arts Fair, Taste of Park Ridge and the 101.9 WTMX Party in the Park in Millennium
Park.

The Ginge recently released its second full length recording "Continental Anyone?" in 2007. The LP contains 9 original tunes evoking classic themes of loss, gain, hubris and humility. Given this release and its reputation as a band that delivers, The Ginge boasts multiple booking throughout 2008.
