BandRockPop

We are an indie-rock/pop band from Albuquerque, New Mexico. We began with Connie and Maury Crandall, and have expanded and contracted over our few years of existence to what we are today. We think that pretty melodies are just the grandest thing in the world.

Biography

We started the band as a married couple with no prior band experience. We just wanted to make pretty pop music; the kind that our parents used to play while we roller skated around in the garage. We like old bands like The Zombies, The Beach Boys, The Beatles, Os Mutantes, The Band, and newer bands like Pavement, Built to Spill, Elliott Smith, and The Walkmen.

We've played shows with many notable acts, including: The Shins, The Thermals, Beirut, The Helio Sequence, Los Campesinos, The Album Leaf, Love As Laughter, Aqueduct, Viva Voce, The Lilys, 31 Knots, Aloha, Tilly and the Wall, Dressy Bessy, Asobi Seksu, Girls, The Octopus Project, and others. The Boston Phoenix even selected us as "Best New Band" from New Mexico for 2009.

We are currently hard at work on our second album. Regular shows will resume in early 2010.

Lyrics

I'm Your Huckleberry

Written By: the giranimals

v.1
You're all I need, and everything is perfectly clear 'cause I'm your huckleberry.
Still I can see that in the single blink of an eye I could be solitary.

v.2
You're all I need, and everything is perfectly clear 'cause I'm your huckleberry.
With time you'll see, 'cause I know like a Calvinist knows you're gonna end up with me.

v.3
You're all I need, and everything is perfectly clear 'cause I'm your huckleberry.
Don't worry, 'cause I'll be just within a stone's throw whenever things get bumpy.

Yesterday's Apparition

Written By: the giranimals

v.1
A century's dead and buried since you went ahead and married.
'Cause left on their own even sane people steer for a cliff...I don't even know why.
And no matter what all the prescient say to be quaint it could never survive.

v.2
Safe ride; coat tails. No frills; no fail.
'Cause left on their own even sane people steer for a cliff...I don't even know why.
And no matter what all the prescient say to be quaint it could never survive.

v.3
Since yesterday's apparition there's only one clear decision:
Hand-over-hand and slowly, the coast fades away.

Turnstile

Written By: the giranimals

v.1
Fragile and facile, it's just a simple turnstile.
Seldom welcome, just step into the dark.

chorus
'Cause you say that this time things can't be the same.
Whatever it takes to keep this family sane.

v.2
You mention declension without any apprehension.
Been there, I'll forswear; it will not realign.

Bridge
Going to just ignore whatever's behind that door.
It's not that I don't care; I just can't be laid bare.

last chorus
'Cause you say that this time things can't be the same.
Whatever it takes to keep this family sane.
And hastily-spilled words cannot mitigate-
Your painfully obfuscated mental state.

Circumspect

Written By: the giranimals

v.1
Well I'd rather hide misgivings deep inside than pretend that I know what to say.
Don my pretty face as if it's a gift of grace, and you would never know either way.

v.2
And if we could chalk this up to just plain bad luck, we could then negate agency.
But now you're circumspect, and this has me perplexed, but I guess that I'll just wait and see.
You can't go home now; there's no reason anyhow. Too much time's passed for that to be.
