"Best New Band in New Mexico"

Maury Povich and Connie Chung have to be one of the most annoying celebrity couples in modern history. Thankfully for other namesake couplings, the Giranimals have come along to rescue the good Maury-and-Connie name. Maury (vocals/drums) and Connie (vocals/keyboards/guitar) Crandall’s band is cute as hell — and what else would you expect from a band named after a line of adorable jammies? While superficially the whole project might seem a little too saccharin, spend some time with the Giranimals and you’ll discover some organically sweet, jangly jams. - Boston Phoenix

"CD Review-Imperfectly Timed Words"

Often boasting haunting harmonies, The Giranimals seem to get better as you dive deeper into their “Imperfectly Timed Words”. Sweet lyrical twists with quaint pop melodies that are laudable and give pop hope again. - Smother Magazine

"CD-Best of 2006"

Sweetiepie jangle pop that almost makes your teeth hurt with lovely vocals someplace between Velocity Girl and Mary Lou Lord. - Local IQ

Bio

We started the band as a married couple with no prior band experience. We just wanted to make pretty pop music; the kind that our parents used to play while we roller skated around in the garage. We like old bands like The Zombies, The Beach Boys, The Beatles, Os Mutantes, The Band, and newer bands like Pavement, Built to Spill, Elliott Smith, and The Walkmen.

We've played shows with many notable acts, including: The Shins, The Thermals, Beirut, The Helio Sequence, Los Campesinos, The Album Leaf, Love As Laughter, Aqueduct, Viva Voce, The Lilys, 31 Knots, Aloha, Tilly and the Wall, Dressy Bessy, Asobi Seksu, Girls, The Octopus Project, and others. The Boston Phoenix even selected us as "Best New Band" from New Mexico for 2009.

We are currently hard at work on our second album. Regular shows will resume in early 2010.
