The best kept secret in music
Press
With their self-titled EP, Melbourne-based band, The Glorious, celebrate their arrival with a truely promising collection of tunes. Recorded entirely by its two core members, David Jon Mather (vocals/guitars/piano) and Daniel Gard'ner (drums/vocals), with a couple of guest spots from friends, the recording feels like an intimate serve of good home cooking. But this EP is a mere amuse bouche for lovers of good craft in songwriting. Mather's whispery vocals lend an atmospheric, cinematic quality to the standout track 'You Send Me' which is just waiting in the wings for an inclusion into a soundtrack. - Readings Books and Music Monthly

Bio
The Glorious will set your heart on fire. The Melbourne-based band is inhabiting the public consciousness with their deeply rich, moving songs. Possessing a rare melodic clarity and emotional resonance, the music of the Glorious has a timelessness you can't fake. The two core members of the band (David Jon Mather - vocals/guitars/piano) and Daniel Gard'ner - drums/vocals) share a long history of playing in bands together and apart. After many false starts and a series of traumatic personal experiences, the two friends formed The Glorious in mid-2003 to give voice to the songs Mather was writing seemingly without end. A connection was formed that surpassed any of their previous experiences. When Mather expanded his writing to the piano as well as guitar, the widescreen scope of The Glorious was given life. The classic sound of the band has reference points but is ultimately unique, due to Mather's other- wordly vocals and the band's melodic interplay. The songs share a dramatic, cinematic quality that resists definition and is truly affecting.
