Bio

Boston's Goddess of Rock and Roll, Jessi Tanguy, combines the energy and ideals of her combined influences to create a sound described as raw grit with a melody that haunts you. Jessi channels this by taking her cues from such legends as Heart, Fleetwood Mac, Sheryl Crow and many other powerful female artists.

Jessi Tanguy infuses genuine feeling and soul into her songwriting and performances. Jessi has recently been playing regular open mics in Boston. She states: "The songs are about the things rock and roll has always been about ~ Sex, love, working to support yourself on your passion alone, fighting against the man, as well as trying to understand myself, the world, and the people in it. These are crazy times we are living in, but underneath it, people are searching for something to make their lives better and more vivid. We are all fighting for meaning, perspective, and happiness. Everybody, no matter who they are, wants to dance--they want to feel more connected to the flow of life and music does that.”

Since officially taking on her career in June of 2004, the Goddess of Rock and Roll started writing Rock tunes with two extraordinary guitarists, Kiko Marcuello and Andres Ponciano. Jessi currently plays locally with her guitarist Andres Ponciano with plans to tour regionally in 2007. October 2005 saw the release of Jessi’s first demo, The Firepit Sessions. The three songs were recorded at Breen Studios in Westford, MA with producers Rick Breen, who has a Masters Certificate in Music Production and Technology from Berkleemusic and Kathy G from CircleG Production & Management. Each track showcases Jessi’s stunning voice and haunting lyrics. From the straight-ahead rock and roll of "Blue Jeans" to the Heart-influenced "Revenge," The Firepit Sessions captures the essence of who the Goddess of Rock and Roll is, and who she is to become.
