The Grady Skelton Band

Thus far The Grady Skelton Band has opened for the likes of Doug Moreland, Chris Knight, Stoney LaRue, Django Walker, Adam Hood, and Matt Powell. In addition The Grady Skelton Band has just released an Early Production album at Ace Recording in Austin, Texas with Rich Brotherton; Lead Guitarist and Co-Producer for the Robert Earl Keen Band. Grady and Perry were introduced to Toby Scott, Tour Manager for Robert by Frank Celli early in 2008. Impressed by the sound, early success, and overall passion and committment of the foursome, he was more than willing to put his name on the line for the Grady Skelton Band. The group heads back into the studio, July 22nd to complete their debut album.

Grady Skelton came to College Station in the fall of 2004 to pursue a degree from Texas A&M. Often playing as many as three times a week acoustically, Grady quickly became a true Texas Troubadour. At the end of 2007, soon-to-be manager Frank Celli was introduced to Perry Reed and Grady Skelton. For eleven years Perry Reed had been playing classic rock lead guitar with such influences as Stevie Ray Vaughan, Led Zeppelin, and Eric Clapton. This style mixed with Grady’s song writing and voice became a sound recognizable yet original. Perry’s rock lead is definitely classic in nature yet all his own. As the two began to mesh, the band soon acquired fiddle by way of Cody Neman. Cody was a rare quantity in College Station, being such an accomplished fiddle player at 22. “It’s not an instrument you see many kids lining up to play when they are young… most dream about lead guitar and drums” said Grady. The threesome would go on to play an insane weekend consisting of three shows in twenty-four hours starting with BT Longhorn Saloon in Brenham, TX, Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Cook-Off, and finishing in Bryan, College Station at Carney’s Pub. At the request of Grady, the band left for Brenham once more to play with now drummer Jeremy Moreno. Jeremy, who had been around music for the entirety of his life, met the soon to be band-mates and was an instant addition. The rhythm section, not yet complete, found Jose Razo, a long time bassist, to fill the void. With the band assembled, they look forward to making their “home on the road.”
