The Great Funktier

Most bands have a really interesting, slightly funny story about how they got their start and found their sound. We don't.

In November of 2010, the four of us got together on a bitterly cold night in Wyatt's cramped bedroom for a jam session. We had played together separately, but never together as a four-piece. As soon as we got through the first tune, we knew we were on to something. The sound was fresh, the mood was ripe, and the jam was delicious. We knew we couldn't keep it to ourselves.

Three weeks later, we played our first gig to a capacity crowd at the Last Dollar Saloon, a well-known and well-loved locals' bar in Telluride, Colo. The next week, we helped Santa spread the holiday spirit on Christmas Day by rocking out at the Llama, one of Telluride's premiere music venues. A few days later, we were asked to fill in when Citizen Cope canceled a show at the Historic Sheridan Opera House. That's how we do it; go big or go home.

Since then, we've made it our mission to bring the funk everywhere we go. We don't play filler songs, and we don't screw around. When we hit the stage, we're going to bring energy and a dedication to the motion of the hip bones. Our name says it all. The "funktier" is an uncharted frontier that encompasses unexplored sound-scapes of music guaranteed to get you on your feet. At the same time, it is a tier from which few people return unscathed. Once we hit it, it's going to hit you right in the funky bone.
