High Noon Saloon The Great Scotts East Hall

I am not sure whether East Hall is the label or the name of the recording studio where these guys put this album together or both, but no matter. This is a difficult album to categorize, because at times it sounds a bit like old sixties folk-rock and then it turns into dissonant hillbilly and that is just one cut! (Sidebar: when my three-year-old granddaughter Norah Jane came in and heard it, she started moving to the groove.) Tony Gray and Lawrence Carroll wrote the songs they do here and are joined by Patrick Calaway and Scott Sisemore. There is no accreditation for the vocals, but I reckon that makes no difference, as at times it sounds as if all four voices are invloved. This is a fun album, mainly because it just refuses to fit into any one slit, or groove, it you will, though one track sure makes me think somebody has listened to Devo. - Nightflying
